ANA Aeroportos and Grupo Vinci have granted the Scientific Merit Award for the rigor and depth of research carried out in the work of a research group from Instituto Superior Técnico, which created the project: Expansion of Lisbon Airport Capacity: Efficient and direct access to remote positions.
The Challenge was shared on inocrowd.com.pt, six solutions were submited following the required criteria. Among the six proposals presented, we highlight the one developed by the team of the Higher Technical Institute of the University of Lisbon, composed by Professor José Maria Campos da Silva André, Doctor Iara de Melo Barbosa Pereira, and Doctor Vasco Domingos Moreira Lopes Miranda dos Reis.
The solution is based on the transportation of passengers between theboarding gate and the aircraft door, not requiring the construction of new terminals. Also, it consists of a fleet of autonomous electric vehicles moving in dedicated channels between the terminal and the remote positions.
The presented solutions allow us to raise from 21 millions to almost 60 million annual passengers.
